I was the alternative bride who couldn’t find a single supplier who got it. Everyone wanted to sell me ivory and chair covers. I wanted tattoos and a disco ball and a
room full of people losing their minds to a song that meant something. I did have a string quartet, I just made them play High School Musical.

So I planned the whole thing myself, learned exactly how hard that is, and then spent years building a network of suppliers for couples who want something different.

That’s what you get when you work with me. Not a cookie cutter style. Not a template with your names dropped in. Your wedding, built properly, by someone who’s been on your side of it.

With each special event that we create, the most important bit is us becoming the perfect and creative team, it is important to ensure we get to know each other, build trust and know exactly what you want your PERFECT day to look like (and it will be perfect). The heart of your day will be reflecting you; everyone has a different style, and it is so important to embrace that part of you.

What I do

A wedding takes 250–300 hours to plan. Nobody tells you that before you say yes.

I take those hours. All of them, or the worst of them, or just the last stretch when it’s
threatening to swallow you whole. Suppliers, budgets, timelines, the group chat, the difficult
phone calls, the thing nobody thought of until the week before.

You get to enjoy your own wedding. That’s the entire job.

To say Laurel and her team are lifesavers is an understatement! Planning a destination wedding is a huge feat for any planner, but Laurel made our impossible seeming dreams come true with extreme finesse and grace (while always staying budget friendly without sacrificing our taste or vision). Most importantly, Laurel made us feel safe as a queer and trans couple by being our first call when things inevitably went wrong, making us laugh, and genuinely having our back. She saved us from so many missteps, wiped many tears, thought 700 steps ahead, and just got us. Beyond a planner, she became a close part of our village and our wedding
couldn’t’ve happened without her. You better book her if you have any sense!!!!

When we found Laurel, we knew straight away we wanted someone who genuinely enjoys working on unique weddings. After seeing how she planned her own, we felt she could really get what we were after. Even though our wedding was only six months away and pretty complicated, Laurel somehow pulled together all of our random ideas and venue requirements, including having the ceremony, wedding breakfast and party at three different locations. She also introduced us to Leyla, who was an absolutely amazing stylist.

There were definitely stressful moments during planning, which I’m sure every couple experiences, but Laurel was a godsend throughout. She was always calm, reassuring and there when we needed her. I personally find dealing with suppliers quite stressful, so when Laurel took over all the communications it was honestly a lifesaver and made such a difference to my stress levels.

Now, a week after the wedding, we’re still riding the high of the day and can’t believe how smoothly everything went. Everything was exactly how we wanted it and came together perfectly. If we had tried to do this on our own, or gone with a more traditional planner, I really don’t think the day would have felt so personal or suited us as a couple.

If you want a planner who truly cares about making your wedding feel like you, and is genuinely excited to bring your ideas to life, I couldn’t recommend Laurel enough.

Nya Rue events were absolutely amazing from beginning to end. Even through the little things. Laurel helped with styling my wedding dress when I was having trouble picturing it. They even helped setting up our wedding website to deal with RSVPs and budgeting. All vendors were dealt with directly and everything was ran past us before confirming. Our wedding was abroad and Laurel and her partner were there on the day and made sure everything ran smoothly so we didn’t have to worry! Couldn’t thank Nya Rue events enough.

Oh my goodness, what a godsend Laurel was! Not only did she just 'get it' but she was so fantastic at putting us at ease when I started to get stressed about silly stuff like cocktail napkins. Having her take over supplier communication 3 months before the wedding date was such a stupendous bonus that meant my fiance (now wife!!) and I could just relax and enjoy the planning process.

On the day, Laurel was joined by Tom and Meg and they were so incredible to work with as well. We were so impressed by their professionalism and hard work, as well as their ability to understand the vision and execute it fantastically.

As far as we know, nothing went wrong, which is the marker of a fantastic planner! Even if things went wrong or squiff, we were none the wiser and we are so grateful for the ease of the day due to their hard work.

Having them set up and tear down meant that we could just enjoy the getting ready process and party! I highly recommend Nya Rue Events!

We had our wedding at our house, but we really didn’t want to have to spend most the day sorting stuff out, getting suppliers set up etc. So we found Laurel after reading all the wonderful reviews and booked her to come and make sure our day went smoothly. She took over all correspondence with suppliers just before and on the day so we didn’t have to think about anything. She didn’t disappoint! She was amazing on the day, even though the wedding was at our house I didn’t feel stressed about having to sort anything out because Laurel was on it. She was so lovely, nothing was too much trouble. If I ever get married again, I’ll be getting her in to organise proceedings immediately 😉

Having worked in corporate events for 10 years, I took on quite a challenge when I started planning my own DIY wedding.

I hired Laurel to coordinate the day, but she took over all supplier comms beforehand - which really meant that I could focus on enjoying the lead up and celebrations of our big day. I had a slightly non-traditional wedding, with a micro ceremony on a Friday night and a garden party at home on the Saturday. It was fairly short notice- hired Nya Rue events just before Christmas and the wedding was mid-April- so I am so incredibly glad I hired Laurel to plan the party. Throughout the whole thing she understood my vision and made it happen, on budget, and smooth as anything. The caterers she found me were fantastic, and everything was exactly as I wanted. Level of communication was perfect for me; and completely un-pushy. Laurel would suggest various extras I might like, but if I didn't want them, that was that.

I felt so understood all the way through and was absolutely delighted with the results. Hiring her allowed myself and my family to relax and actually enjoy our party! Thank you so much for everything!
